Lowell D. Showalter Sr., 87, died Aug. 13, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Larned, to Calvin and Florence Rice Showalter.
Lowell graduated from Hutchinson High School, was a member of the Sand Hills Saddle Club and Teamsters Union. On Oct. 17, 1955, he married Betty L. Lewis in New Mexico. She died April 1, 2006.
He is survived by: son, Lowell Doyle Showalter Jr. of Texas; daughters, Beth Hull and husband Craig of Arlington, Karen Trindal and husband LaVerne of Hutchinson; sister, Valva Mapes of South Dakota; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Lowell was preceded in death by: his parents; and two brothers, Ray and Leigh Showalter.
Funeral service will be 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Harold E. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View at Darlow Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family to receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
