Obituary

Lucille A. Eitel, 88, of Hutchinson, died March 5, 2012, at Hester Care Center.

Lucille was born Oct. 18, 1923, in Claflin, the daughter of Ira and Ida Dowse Wolford.

She attended schools at Claflin and graduated from Claflin High School in 1940. She retired as Utility Clerk at the City of Hutchinson. Lucille was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the DUO Sunday school class at the church, and the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Lucille was a volunteer at the Cosmosphere.

Lucille married Samuel S. Eitel on June 15, 1947, in Claflin. He died April 11, 1979.

Survivors include: two sons, Dick Eitel and wife Susan, Corinth, Texas, and Kent Eitel, Shawnee; a daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Cook and husband Dan, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a brother, Dick Wolford, Lawrence; a very special friend, Kathy Green, Hutchinson; five grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Jim Rhaesa presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to service time Thursday, with the family greeting friends prior to the service on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Homecare of Reno County or Trinity United Methodist Church, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas 67501.
