Obituary

Lucille E. Ewert, 94, died April 19, 2016, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Meade, to Henry M. and Marie (Knak) Epp.

Lucille graduated from Rosalia High School in 1941. She was a Senior Insurance Representative for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Lucille enjoyed volunteering, reading, and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Union Valley Bible Church. She once was an organist there and a part of the Prison Correspondence Ministry. On April 18, 1943, she married Irvin H. Ewert in Elbing. He died Sept. 6, 1996.

Lucille is survived by: children, Jim Ewert and wife Andrea of Hutchinson, Sheryl Ewert of Kansas City, Miriam Harder and husband Allen of Filley, Neb., Stephen Ewert and wife Elizabeth of Hutchinson; sisters, Verna Hofer of Mitchell, SD, Mary Ann Kroeker of Filadefia, Paraguay; brothers, Herbert Epp of Phoenix, Ariz., Tony Epp of Ponca City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wesley, Leonard, Melvin Epp; sister, Margaret Schwartz; and a daughter, Sharon Ann Ewert.

Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Private family burial will take place. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community or Union Valley Bible Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
