Obituary

Lucille "Lupe" Ojeda, 90, died Feb. 2, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Hutchinson, to Tiburcio E. and Maria (Espinosa) Hernandez.

Lucille graduated from Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. She was a secretary for Foster Printing. Lucille loved children, taking care of many of her nieces and nephews during her lifetime. She considered all of her nieces and nephews she took care of "hers", and loved them all unconditionally. Lucille also enjoyed Mexican music and dancing with her late husband. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Altar Society, and volunteered countless hours at the church and served many hours of adoration.

On Jan. 23, 1960, she married Vernon Ojeda, Sr. in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 25, 2015. Survivors include: two sons, Vernon Ojeda, Jr. and wife Dana and David Ojeda, both of Hutchinson; a daughter, Cathaleen Hoffman of Hutchinson; sister, Katherine McCormick of Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren, Tito, Miguel, Mario and wife Lana Enriquez, Victor and Alex Ojeda, Devin Ojeda and wife Erica, Gerald Hoffman, Jr., Brandon Hoffman, Jerica Cornejo, Blaine Hoffman, Whitney Battershell and husband Justin, Valery Villarroel; 12 great-grandchildren, Jayanna, Boston, and Tuffy Cornejo, Hampton and Creighton Ojeda, Alex Ojeda, Jr., Natali, Kylee, Katlyn, Alicia and Lorenzo Enriquez, and Kayden Hoffman. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Frances Ruelas, Olivia Rodriguez, and Francisca Trevino; and brothers, Joe Espinosa and Julian Hernandez.

Parish Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Ned J. Blick officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
