Lucinda "Cindy" K. Yoder of Hutchinson, Kan. passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2011, at the age of 55 at home.
She will be fondly remembered by her loving family including her father, Levi L. Yoder of Hutchinson; and her three sisters, Elaine Blake and her husband Randolph of Nashville, Tenn., Donna Yoder and her husband Don Dearth of Wichita, and Connie McTigue and her husband Stephen of Mishawaka, Ind.; Other survivors include: her nieces and nephews, Geoff Hurst and his wife Kim Davis of New York, NY, Erinn Kelley and her husband Bryan of Mishawaka, Ind., Corrie McTigue of Chicago, IL., and Joey McTigue of Chicago, IL.; and great nieces and nephews, Levi Hurst, Sam Kelley, and Mila Hurst.
Cindy was born on Nov. 9, 1955, in Hutchinson, Kan., the daughter of Levi L. and Esther B. Zook Yoder. She grew up on the family farm and attended Hutchinson Public Schools in her younger years. She also participated for more than 35 years in work programs and residential activities provided through the Training and Evaluation Center of Hutchinson (TECH). She is deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend a special tribute of thanks to Donna Yoder who became Cindy's attentive guardian and passionate champion in later years.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family present to greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, from 9 a.m. to noon at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Mennonite Manor Chapel, 600 West Blanchard, South Hutchinson with Pastor Eric Miller presiding. Burial will follow at Yoder Cemetery, Yoder.
