Lyla M. McCoy, 88, of South Hutchinson, died Jan. 28, 2011, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Castleton, the daughter of William H. and Mary Rose Spillman Pitts.
She attended school at Castleton and graduated in 1940 from Castleton High School. A lifelong Reno Co. resident, she worked side by side with her husband at Ark Valley Coop Dairy Assn., where he was the manager. She also worked for the State of Kansas Home Services. She was a member of South Hutchinson Christian Church and the Ruth Circle of the church.
Lyla married Everett Lee "Mac" McCoy on Feb. 6, 1952, in Tucumcari, N.M. He died Dec. 26, 1999.
Survivors include: sons, Robert McCoy (Clara), De Soto, Texas, Michael McCoy, Florissant, Colo., Thomas McCoy (Brenda), and Ted McCoy, all of Hutchinson; daughters, Judith Gonzales, Hutchinson, and Lynette Woods (Russ), Manhattan; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leland, Delbert and Freddy Pitts; a sister, Cleda Gould; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at the South Hutchinson Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Arnold presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery, Stafford.
