M. Florence "Flossie" Barnes Vickrey, 83, died Saturday.
She was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Bruce and Mary McGill Waterfield.
She was a 1945 graduate of Hutchinson High School, had attended Crossroads Christian Church and Northminister Presbyterian Church, member of Loyal Order of Moose #982, American Legion, Lysle Rishel Post #68 Auxillary, worked at the Hutchinson News in Classified and Circulation Departments, and retired from Aim Research Services in 1999 as Owner and Manager.
On Dec. 29, 1951, she married Rodney E. Barnes in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 5, 1987. Then on Feb. 17, 1990, she married Abner H. Vickrey in McPherson. He died Jan. 17, 1992.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Barnes-Haesemeyer and husband Allan, Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and Connie Esparham and husband Shahriar, Cenntenial, Colorado; five grandchildren, Abram and Sam Haesemeyer, Alexandra Broz and husband Doug, Oliver Esparham and wife Kelli and Anna Esparham.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Coates and a half brother.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with family present 6 to 7 p.m. all at the mortuary.
