M. June Updegrove, 91, died Nov. 9, 2013, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers. She was born June 29, 1922, in Geneseo, Kan., the daughter of Elmer Lawrence and Manilla Elizabeth (Leazenby) Brown.

She was a Partridge resident for many years graduating from Partridge High School in 1940. She then graduated from Hutchinson Community College in 1942, and received her Bachelors of Education from Sterling College in 1964. She taught school in Nickerson for two years, Valley Pride for four years, and Graber Elementary School for 17 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the N.E.A., K.N.E.A., United Methodist Women, TRI-M Sunday School Class, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, H.A.R.T.A (Hutchinson Area Retired Teachers Association), Wheatheart (camper organization), Salt Shakers and Ark Valley Good Sam Campers.

On May 14, 1944, she married Maurice Arthur Updegrove in Hutchinson. He died June 21, 2002.

Survivors include: sons, Robert R. Updegrove of Anchorage, Alaska, John R. Updegrove and wife Sandy, Donald B. Updegrove and wife Patricia, all of Wichita, James C. Updegrove and wife Susan of South Hutchinson; niece, Susan (Brown) Morris and husband David of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Bill Brown; granddaughter, Kelli Updegrove; and nephew, Steve Brown.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jeanine I. Rishel officiating. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family to receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
