Mae Elaine (Phillips) Guyett was a woman who touched the hearts and lives of everyone who knew her. In the words of so many, "she was a true Christian." She had a deep love for her Lord that was lived out daily by the way she helped other people. If she said she was praying for you what she meant was that she was on her knees, crying out to God, with deep faith that He was going to hear and answer that prayer. Elaine loved her family and neighbors.
She often carried out special acts of kindness just for them. From a listening ear, special "just because" gifts, or a helping hand, she was really there for us. If you ever asked her why she did these things, she probably would have told you about how her Jesus loved us so much that he gave everything he had for us. As a dedicated teacher, she taught elementary school for over 35 years. She was the wife of a preacher and worked in the church carrying out a long list of tasks, humbly and sincerely. Elaine was born on March 30, 1931, in Woodward, Okla., to Alfred Mansfield and Alice (McKenna) Phillips. She married Leroy D. Guyett on Dec. 19, 1952, in Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy; grandson, Joshua Lamb; and other family members. Survivors include: Janice (daughter) and Ronald Conner and their sons, Jason and Justin, Glennis (daughter) and Harold Lamb and their children, Maeleena, Caleb, Blake, Debbie (daughter) and Sheldon Crane and daughters, Shauna and Tiffany; Mark (son) and Donna Guyett and children, Joel, Ashley, and Simon; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Clark, Mary Lou Tims, Elsie Dunn, Glenda Kilpatrick; brothers, Clarence Phillips and Robert Phillips.
