Marcella Clara Cecilia "Auntie" McCloskey, 91, died Jan. 6, 2014, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born March 1, 1922, to Theodore John and Henrietta Ada Duddey McCloskey in St. Louis, Mo.
In 1972, Marcella and her mother moved to Kansas from St. Louis. They lived with Marcella's sister, Mary M. Suter, whose home was near Cheney Lake. After her mother's death, Marcella spent the majority of each year with John and Jeanie Suter. She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She participated in Special Pops sponsored by the Recreation Commission. She rode the RCAT bus to Friendship Meals located in the Salvation Army building on Main Street. She was always eager to help around the house and enjoyed making crafts and giving them away.
On Dec. 16, 1999, she entered Golden Plains Health Care Center where she spent her remaining years. The family thanks friends and strangers who treated Marcella with love and respect and who looked out for her.
Survivors include: sister, Mary M. Suter of Wichita; nephews, Bud Suter, Greg Suter of Wichita, John Suter, Tom Suter, of Hutchinson, Bill Suter of Texas; niece, Vicki Talley of Mt. Vernon, Kan.; and other nieces and nephews in St. Louis, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and a brother.
Parish rosary will be 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 5:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo., at a later date. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
