Obituary

Marcia Jane Haverty is now in peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Marcia passed away on April 14, 2015, at Wesley Towers with her children by her side. Marcia was born April 16, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Junior Keene Haverty; son, Mark Scott Haverty; father, Arley Luther Boyer; and mother, Esther Katherine Boyer; and brother-in-law, Beb Haverty. Survivors include: son, Michael Keene Haverty and wife Brenda of Overland Park; daughters, Kathi Jane Wingert and husband Roger of Rogers, Ark., Janet Kay Dusch and husband Jeff of Wildwood, Mo.; grandchildren, Brandon Haverty of Kansas City, Mo., Brooke Heppner and husband Jason of Pasadena, Calif., Carrie Crawford and Trevor Carney of Austin, Texas, Lauren Stefanic and husband Nick of Rogers, Ark., JJ Dusch and wife Tamara of St. Louis, Mo., Julia Holland and husband Chris of New York, Joey Dusch of Wildwood, Mo.; great-grandson, Crawford Keene Carney of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Nancy Haverty of Lawrence; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Barbara Haverty of Lawrence; and stepbrother, Dr. Chuck Fish and wife Michele of Hot Springs, Ark.

Marcia was very active in the community with her volunteer work. Marcia volunteered at Wesley Towers for 25-plus years and served on its board of directors. She was a member of PEO. Marcia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 60 years and spent countless hours being a Sunday school teacher, as well as many other volunteer activities at the church. Marcia volunteered for After School Care, Reins of Hope and Jaycee Janes. She was a Cub Scout leader. Marcia was also a member of Christian Women's Club. Marcia was truly a servant to her family and others in the community.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. A reception will follow in the church parlor.

Memorials can be made to the Mark Scott Haverty Scholarship Fund at Hutchinson Community College or Trinity United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson KS 67501.

Marcia's family extends a heartfelt "thank you" to her many dear friends in the Hutchinson community in her journey through life. Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements.
