Marcia G. Mendenhall, 79, died August 30, 2026, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 30, 1946, in Hutchinson, to Richard and June (Dressler) Whittle.

Marcia was a 1964 graduate of Hutchinson High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for KanOkla Accounting, Mistletoe Express and a dispatcher for McVey Cab Company. Marcia liked spending time with her dogs and was an animal rights advocate. She loved to sew and make her grandchildren’s Halloween costumes every year. Marcia enjoyed spending time with her family, especially taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of New Life Christian Church, Hutchinson.

In 1991, Marcia married Douglas Mendenhall in Hutchinson.

Marcia is survived by: her husband of 35 years, Doug Mendenhall; daughter, Kimberly (Levi) Utsler, all of Hutchinson; son, Mike (Brooke) Cochran of Winfield; grandchildren, Zach Gilley, Alex (Matt Newton) Gilley; siblings, Donna Fagan, and Rick Whittle, all of Hutchinson; beloved dogs, Andy and Snicker.

She was preceded in death by: her parents and brother, Larry “Dick” Whittle

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Lone Star Cemetery, rural Pretty Prairie, with Pastor John Frey officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
