SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Margaret R. Hitz, 87, of South Hutchinson, died May 19, 2009, at Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson.
She was born June 6, 1921, in Salisbury, Mo., the daughter of Martin L. and Martha A. Eisberg Hartung.
She graduated from Topeka High School in the Class of 1938. She was a retired bookkeeper at Hodisco, Inc. in Hutchinson.
She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She often volunteered at the Blood Mobile in Hutchinson.
She married Gerald "Keith" Hitz on Jan. 29, 1941, in Bremerton, Wash. He died Dec. 7, 2007. Survivors include: two daughters, Connie Dix, Spokane, Wash., and Karen Baxter, and husband Earl, Shawnee; a sister, Izora "Ikey" Howell, Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Brian Baxter and wife Kim, Swansea, Ill., and Becky Hinkson and husband Trey, Cottonwood Falls; three step-grand- children; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son-in-law, Michael Dix.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Thomas B. Mendenhall presiding. Burial will be in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
