Margaret Raya Vieyra, 87, died Jan. 28, 2011, at Buhler Sunshine Home, Buhler. She was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Hutchinson, to Delfino and Patrocinia Juarez Raya. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, and the Ladies Altar Society.
On Dec. 26, 1943, she married Pete V. Vieyra in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 18, 2006. Survivors include: sons, Robert and wife Mary, Darwin, Minn., Tom and wife Debbie, Hutchinson, Martin and wife Sandy, Hutchinson, and Raymond and wife Barbara, Hutchinson; a daughter, Rachel Stephens and husband, Charles, Dayton, Oregon; brothers, Mike Raya, Alton, Illinois, and Benny Raya, Hutchinson; sisters, Isabel Castor, Hutchinson, Lucy Raigoza, Hutchinson, and Carmen Tenorio, Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her children, Mary Louise Vieyra and Luis Vieyra; three brothers, "Chilo," "Judge" and Paul Raya; a sister, Placida Moncayo; two grandchildren, Rochelle and Victoria Vieyra; a great-granddaughter, Karina Gauither.
Parish Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Father Brian Nelson officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to the church or Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the mortuary.
