Obituary

Margaret Christine "Chris" Zongker, 89, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Homestead Assisted Care facility in Derby.  She was born April 14, 1935, the youngest of 5, to William and Ida Miller in Hutchinson, Kansas.

After high school, on Dec 26, 1953, Chris married Merle Jo Zongker of Plevna. She promptly settled into the role of a devoted wife to a military man.  They were married for almost 65 years. This life led to residing on all three coasts of the U.S.A.  Along the way, she became an equally devoted mother to three boys- Tim (67), Scott (66), and Eric (61). She is survived by and will be greatly missed by all of her sons and daughter-in-law Sherri.

Chris always found time to volunteer at church and school functions. She enjoyed playing Bridge and camping with her family. Later in life, Chris was bookkeeper for Hershey ready mix and served as a consultant to a Canadian Air Company. Family get togethers were another favorite activity. For these events, she would spend hours making and decorating her legendary sugar cookies.

Chris was welcomed into heaven by her husband Jo who passed Dec 7, 2018 and siblings, Adrian "Whitey" Miller, Evelyn Openshaw, Norma Euker and Marvin Miller

Chris never wanted to be the center of attention, so per her wishes there will not be a memorial service. Her boys however will have a remembrance of a life well lived at 10:30 am Saturday April 12, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kansas Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
