Obituary

"Marge" (Timmons) Grossardt, 82, was summoned home to be with Jesus Christ on July 9, 2015, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson. Born in rural Comanche County, on March 27, 1933, to Leonard T. and Mable B. (Morgan) Timmons, she grew up on a farm on the Comanche County side of the Comanche/Kiowa County line.

She attended a rural, two-room school house through the eighth grade. She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1951. From there, she attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, where she met her future husband, Bernerd G. "Bernie" Grossardt. They were married on June 15, 1952. During her lifetime, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She spent 15 or 16 of her wedding anniversaries at the ball park watching her sons play baseball. Always involved in her sons' activities, she was a Cub Scout den mother for both of them. Marge found great joy in her family, particularly her two grandsons. Her work outside the home was primarily in the insurance industry, first working for several insurance agents and ending her career as an underwriting technician for American Family Insurance. She was a member of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church and a member of the Women of the Moose, Hutchinson Chapter 1371.

She is survived by: her husband of 63 years, Bernie; sons, Don (Margaret) Grossardt of Halstead; grandson, Jason of Manhattan; Wayne (Kim) Grossardt of Wichita; and grandson, Chris of Lawrence. She was preceded in death by: her parents and brother, Charles E. Timmons.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Tony D'Olio officiating. Friends may sign her memorial book until service time at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
