Margery Ann Briscoe, 84, passed away Sept. 24, 2012, in Hutchinson, Kan.
She was born, March 4, 1928, to Clay and Clara Riggs in Winfield, Kan. She was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; three sisters; and a son, Kim.
Margery grew up in Winfield and became an accomplished violinist. She attended Wichita State University and played a number of years with the Wichita Symphony. After marrying Bob Briscoe in 1947, she was active in the Tisdale Methodist Church where she was choir director. In 1961 the family moved to Lyons where she was choir director at the First United Methodist Church for many years. Following several years in Sun City, Ariz., they retired in Hutchinson where they were members of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by: her husband, Bob; sons, Rob of Long Beach, Calif. and Dick (wife, Jayne) of Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Patrick (Holly) from Longview, Texas, Michael (Katie) and Blake (Meaghan) of Overland Park, Kan.; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with family to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
