Obituary

Margie Lea (Shaner) Farney, 91, peacefully passed from this life on Oct. 6, 2014.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Merle Farney; daughter, Lynne Farney Chappell; and son, Richard Merle Farney Jr. She is survived by four children: daughters, Kay Root (Jon) of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Beth Roe (Jim) of Yuma, Ariz., Anne Farney of Phoenix, Ariz., and son, Rudy Farney (Diane) of Hutchinson, Kan.; as well as 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Margie devoted her life to being a wife and mother. While Margie worked outside of the home for a number of years, she always believed her true calling was in being a homemaker. In tribute to Margie being a great homemaker and mother, her children recall heartfelt memories of wonderful meals and delicious homemade desserts; on windy, snowy days, cold and wet from their walk home from school, her children fondly remember being met by the wafting aroma of doughnuts frying in the kitchen as they entered the house. Most importantly, Margie instilled in her children to do the right thing, and when in doubt what path to take, to listen to one's conscience. Margie attended the Church of Christ all her life, and her values were evidenced in both charitable acts and small daily kindnesses. Margie loved to travel, having traveled to all 50 states in the U.S., as well as traveled to Canada and Mexico. She especially enjoyed visiting her daughters' homes in Washington and Arizona. Our families' favorite words of departure were to "Go with God." We are comforted knowing our Mama departed this world as she heard Lord Jesus calling her name. Truly she has gone home to the Father God.
