Marian Joan "Jo" Murphy, 91, died March 28, 2022, at Hospice House. She was born January 11, 1931, in Cleveland, MO, to Albert and Beulah (Hockensmith) Witherspoon.

Jo graduated from Waverly High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and very devoted to her husband and family. Jo was an avid quilter who stitched all her quilts by hand. She attended Crestview Bible Church.

On May 20, 1951, Jo married John E. Murphy, in Topeka. He died January 15, 2009.

She is survived by: her daughters, Teri Armstrong of Elizabeth, CO, Julie Trent (Martin) of Inman, Edie Ortmann (Dwight) of Fremont, CA; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

Jo was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Mildred Luedke, Doris Jeffery, Betty Short, Ola Beuchler, Robert Witherspoon, Marvin Witherspoon, and Leon Witherspoon.

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at Aubry Cemetery, 191 ^st and Metcalf, in Stilwell. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, at Elliott Mortuary.
