BURRTON - Marie Collins Anderson, 88, died July 12, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital, ER.

She was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Burrton, the daughter of Percy and Aimee Collins. She attended schools in Burrton. She was a lifetime resident of Burrton. After graduation she then attended cosmetology school in Wichita, and then later worked at AlRoy Beauty Shop, Wichita, where she met her husband John. She had also worked for the Burrton IGA for many years.

She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Burrton, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, and sang in the choir. She was also past president of the United Methodist Women.

On Jan. 14, 1943, she married John Anderson in the Burrton Parsonage. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Phillip Ray and wife Teresa, Burleson, Texas; a daughter, Janet Marie Creedon, Ottawa, Ill.; three sisters, Irma Hoskinson, Anthony, Charlotte McElwain, Burrton, and Carol Ehrich, Placentia, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Timothy Creedon and wife Megan, and Kyle Creedon, all of Ottawa, Ill., Rhyan Anderson and wife Kelsey, Burleson, Texas, and Corey Anderson, Houston.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, John Raymond Anderson, five brothers and a sister.

Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at the United Methodist Church, Burrton, with Pastor Frank Morgan presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Burrton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church of Burrton, in care of the mortuary.
