Obituary

Marie A. Dramann Kenning Blocher, 88, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014. She was born to Edward and Irene Senecal Dramann on Sept. 16, 1926, in a little rock house on the banks of the Saline River, south of Zurich, Kan.

As an infant, Marie was nicknamed "Toad" by her father and was affectionately called this by siblings and friends. She attended and graduated in 1945 from St. Mary's Academy, Leavenworth, then graduated from Kansas City Business College in 1947.

She married Frank B. Kenning Jr. in 1949. They resided in the Kansas City area and had three children, Dian, Jerry and Mark. Frank died Sept. 12, 1959. On July 17, 1965, she married Jerry R. Blocher in North Kansas City. They moved to Joplin, Mo., and became involved in the McDonald's Hamburger business.

In 1978, they moved to Hutchinson to become owners of the local McDonald's. Marie worked as the business' bookkeeper. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was quick to laugh and enjoyed life. Her interests included fishing, thorough bred horse racing and traveling. She was also an exceptionally good cook!

She is survived by: her husband, Jerry of Hutchinson; two sons, Dr. Jerry (Margaret) Kenning of Omaha, Neb., Mark (Connie) Kenning of Hutchinson; a son-in-law, Robert Pryor of Boonville, Mo.; siblings, Lionel "Bub" Dramann, Joanne Hicks, Evelyn Fagan, Jane Woehrman, Anita Suptic; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Dian Pryor; siblings, Loretta Wager, Doris Brown Aller, Agnes Kissinger, Patricia Darveau and Raymond Dramann.

Parish Rosary will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 8812 E. Gregory Blvd., Raytown, Mo., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. with Father Angelo Bartulica presiding. Burial will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and a Prayer service from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with Father Joseph A. Eckberg presiding at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson. In

lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Ronald McDonald House Charities, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS 67501.
