Rhoda 'Marie' Davis, 92, of Hutchinson, died May 29, 2018, at Hester Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born March 31, 1926, in Garnett, to Archie and Cora (Edwards) Tomberlin.
In addition to being a homemaker, Marie worked at a number of jobs over the years, including: being a 'Rosie the Riveter' at Beechcraft during WW II; Dillons Delicatessen at B & Main in Hutchinson; delivering the Hutchinson News for over 30 years; and in food service and hostess at Wesley Towers for over 30 years. She loved working jigsaw puzzles and playing Bingo. Marie loved people, especially her family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On November 9, 1945, she married L.B. 'Bill' Davis in Hutchinson. He died June 7, 2002. Marie is survived by: sons, Tony Davis (Cheryl) and Byron Davis (Debbie), all of Hutchinson; daughter, Connie Jones of Haysville; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Patti Startzman; sisters, Mary and Ruth; brothers, Don, Archie, Jim, and Maury.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st Ave., Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jeff Slater officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
