Marie E. Elliott's Obituary
Marie E. Elliott, 94, died Sunday, June 3, 2012. She was born in Abbyville, Feb. 7, 1918, the daughter of Claude E. and Birtie Agness Duvall Bridgeman.
She graduated valedictorian from her 1937 class at Abbyville High School, a graduate of Adela Hale Secretarial College, a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a bookkeeper for IDS American Express for 18 years, retiring in 1968.
She is survived by: nieces, Janice Shultz, Arlington, and Barbara Bridgeman, Zapata, Texas; great-nieces, Cindy Wilcox and Christine Kirk; and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Brother Leo Bridgeman; a sister, Edith Schroeder; and a nephew, Larry Bridgeman.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in Abbyville Cemetery, with Reverend Eldon Smith officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Reno County.
