Marie Hawkins, 90, died September 13, 2020, surrounded by her family at her son's home in Hutchinson.  She was born April 4, 1930, in Coyle, OK, to Tolbert Whitfield and Cora Elizabeth (Downey) Allison.

Marie graduated from high school in 1948 and junior college in 1950.  She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed collecting dolls.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 16, 1950, she married James 'Jim' Hawkins in Hutchinson.  He died September 29, 2016.  Marie and Jim were inseparable, and shared 66 years of marriage, prior to his death.

Marie is survived by:  children, Diane Ehling and Douglas Hawkins (Valerie); son-in-law, Christopher Britton, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Andrew Ehling (Jodi) of Las Vegas, NM, Zane Ehling (Jenni) of Garden Plain, and Abby Ehling (Francisco Florencio) of Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Cora, Morris, George, and Archie, Brecklynn, Sawyer, and Alice; and sister, Mae Smith of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by:  son, Steven Hawkins; grandson, Lucas Ehling; and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Dr. J. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
