Marie M. (Churchman) Mesh, 86, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 28, 2012, at Hospice House.

She was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Guymon, Okla., the daughter of Henry and Mildred Busch Churchman.

She attended St. Teresa's Grade School in Hutchinson and graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in Wichita in 1945. She then attended Our Lady of The Lakes College in San Antonio, Texas, and later attended Wichita University. Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. Marie was a founding member of the Church of the Holy Cross, a member of the Altar Society at the church, the Holy Cross church choir, the Reno County Choral Society, and was a devoted volunteer at American Heart Association and March of Dimes.

She married William A. "Bill" Mesh on April 15, 1952, in Wichita. Bill died May 5, 2009.

Survivors include: three sons, Robert W. Mesh, Topeka, John J. Mesh, Enid, Okla., and Paul G. Mesh and wife Mari, Hutchinson; two daughters, Janet M. Cooper, Hutchinson, and Terese "Terri" Chapman, Wichita; a brother, Mike Churchman, Logan; three sisters, Kathleen Borst and husband Leo, Marguerite Churchman, and Peggy Winters, all of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Churchman and James Churchman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the Church of the Holy Cross, with Fr. Joseph Eckberg presiding. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the church prior to Mass. A visitation for Marie will be Tuesday 1 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, where the family will greet friends Wednesday 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.

The family expresses their "Thanks" to the staff and friends at Waldron Place for the great care and support during Marie's stay there.
