Marie Vannest's Obituary
Marie VanNest, 77, died Saturday, October 24, 2009, at her home.
She was born February 25, 1932, in Alden, to Carl and Helen Proffitt Elliott.
She was a graduate of Sterling High School. She was a bookkeeper in the Accounting Department at Dillons Corporation for 17 years, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, Dana, and Jeff VanNest, both of Hutchinson; two brothers, James "Jim" Elliott, Hutchinson, and Henry "Dink" Elliott, Saxman; four sisters, Nina Fox, Hutchinson, Vera Gullick, Evelyn Roth, and Norma Goertzen, all of Kingman, Ariz.; and a grandson, Shane VanNest, Grandview, Mo.
She was preceded in death by a son, Elliott VanNest, a brother, Edward Elliott, and two sisters, Erma Junke and Ruby Mosshardt.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, in Penwell- Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, all at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
