Marie Wamhoff, 97, died Aug. 14, 2006 at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

She was born Sept. 17, 1908 in Ellsworth County, the daughter of Walter and Anna Svoboda Brown. A Hutchinson resident since 1992, moving from Holyrood, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holyrood and attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson. Marie had a special way of making people smile and laugh. She will be missed by family and friends.

On Aug. 6, 1930 she married Ernest Wamhoff in Holyrood. He died Aug. 1, 1977.

Survivors include: a daughter, Arlene Jones, Hutchinson; two sisters, Ada Harmon, Hays and Elsie Staatz, Junction City; two grandchildren, Terry Willoughby and husband Russ, Overland Park and Justin Slaight and wife Kim, Holyrood; one great grandchild, three step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters and a sin-in-law, Bob Jones.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holyrood with the Rev. John Sharp presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Holyrood.
