Marilyn Joyce Cooper, 75, died Sunday, February 28, 2016. She was born August 16, 1940, in Sterling, the daughter of John B. and Lola Irene (Logan) Granon.
She was a 1958, graduate of Sterling High School and a member of First Baptist Church, Hutchinson. She retired in 2007, after working 18 years at Via Christi in the insurance and billing department. She was very involved with her sons' scouting activities, by being a Cub Scout den mother and helping through their Boy Scout years.
On August 31, 1958, she married Adelbert L. Cooper, Jr. in Sterling. He died January 15, 1994. She is survived by: their children and spouses, Scott (Gwen) of Youngsville, N.C., Steven (Marsha) of Hutchinson, Stuart (ex-wife Lisa) of Kansas City, and Starla Cooper of Hutchinson; a brother, Albert Granon (Mary) of Wichita; niece, Jenny Porting; great-nephew, Douglas Heller; cousin, Kenny Schumaker; grandchildren, Brandon, Bryce, Kelsey, Johnathon, Elizabeth, Heather, Jasmine, Curtis, and Dena; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elizabeth Milburn.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tyler Vance presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
