Marjorie Alice Loder Reed, died May 11, 2012, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 13, 1914, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Winfield Ross and Daisy (Guinn) Loder.
Marjorie graduated from Hutchinson High School and Salt City Business College. A homemaker, she had also worked in the office at the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Marjorie was a member of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Sewing Club. Marjorie's life was filled with music, expressed through church choir, piano, and years of square dancing and round dancing with her husband. Her legacy of family, faith, and the gift of being a compassionate listener lives on in all the lives she touched.
On April 8, 1939, she married Harold R. Reed in Hutchinson. He died Aug. 8, 2007.
Survivors include: two children, Alice Jane Hayes, Hutchinson, and John Ross Reed and wife Janet, Naperville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Darin Hayes and wife Sara, Wichita, Devon Hayes and wife Stacy, Hutchinson, Jeremy Reed and wife Kathy, Louisville, Ky., and Ehren Reed, San Francisco, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren, Skylar, Jessica, Makinzie, Arianna and Gage Hayes, Hutchinson, Jaydn and Decker Hayes, Wichita, and Jacob Reed, Louisville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Byron and Walter Loder; and a son-in-law, Jay Dee Hayes.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Henry J. Hartman presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Memorials may be made to New Covenant Presbyterian Church or the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers, in care of the mortuary.
