Obituary

Marjorie Easter Ramsey, 87, died Jan. 25, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Abilene, Kan., the daughter of Harry L. and Arretta B. Haynes Easter.

She graduated from Abilene High School in 1943 and attended the University of Kansas.

On Sept. 1, 1946, she married Leon M. Ramsey Jr. in Abilene, Kan.

Marjorie was a homemaker for many years and later worked alongside her husband in the Plaza Pharmacy, Garden City, Kan., retiring in 1990. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City, where she was involved in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Chapter X, P.E.O., and was an avid duplicate bridge player. Leon and Marjorie lived in Garden City for over 50 years before moving in 2007 to the Collier Assisted Living Center at Wesley Towers, in Hutchinson.

She is survived by her husband, Leon M. Ramsey Jr.; four daughters, Barbara Ramsey of Rawlins, Wyo., Dr. Gwen Arnett and husband Dr. Ken Arnett of Mission Hills, Kan., Juli Burnett and Dr. John A. Burnett and their children, Erin and Lyndy Burnett, all of Germantown, Tenn., Sheryll Clarke and husband Dan of Mt. Hope, Kan.; a brother, George Easter and wife Joyce of Salina; two sisters, Jo Longhofer and husband Garland of Hutchinson, Frieda Worrall of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Spiegel.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Wesley Towers Evans Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend Jim Rhaesa presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Garden City or the Wesley Towers Good Samaritan Fund, in care of the mortuary.
