Marjorie A. Vernon, 84, died Sept. 28, 2016, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Hutchinson, to B.F. and Marge C. (Schaffer) Nichols. Marjorie graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950. She retired from the Hutchinson Public Library.

Marjorie is survived by: daughter, Bobbie Vernon of Hutchinson; son, Mark Vernon and wife Linda of Central City, Ky.; sisters, Nancy McNaul of Littleton, Colo., Bun Wells of Odessa, Neb.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, William "Bill" F. Vernon.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jeanine I. Rishel officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Hutchinson Public Library, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main Hutchinson, KS 67501.
