Marjorie Wingfield, 94, passed away Oct. 2, 2009, at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.
She was born April 8, 1915, in Haviland, Ks, the daughter of Samuel and Rinda Massey Williams.
She spent her childhood in Haviland and moved to Hutchinson in 1936.
She married Vern Wingfield on Dec. 12, 1936, in Haviland. He passed away Oct. 8, 2006. They spent 12 years in Hutchinson, and moved to a farm north of Haviland in 1948.
Two children survive, daughter, Barbara Macgirvin of Hutchinson, and son, Gary Wingfield and wife, Beth, of Battleboro, N.C.
She was a member of the Haviland United Methodist Church, was a past Worthy Matron and 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Farmerette Club and worked for Avon for 15 years. They moved to Wesley Towers in September of 2004.
Other survivors include: six grandchildren, Jeff Wingfield and wife, Karen, of Elm City, N.C., Debbie King and husband, Gary, of Elm City, N.C., Scott Wingfield and wife, Leigh Ann, of Nashville, N.C., Curtis Wingfield of Charlotte, N.C., Eric Jantz and wife, Beth, of Harpersville, AL and Erin Jantz of Lenexa, Ks. There are also eight great-grandchildren, Kelli Wingfield, Austin and Wesley King, Zane and Christian Jantz, Anna Scott and Griffin and John Thomas Wingfield. Also surviving is her brother-in-law, Carl Wingfield of Pratt, Ks; three nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Vesta Baker, Zella Bachman and Maude Chinn.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Wesley Towers Chapel with the Rev. Robert B. Brooks presiding. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Haviland Cemetery, Haviland, Ks. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
