Mark Allan Christmann Sr., 55, died March 29, 2011, at Hospice House in Hutchinson after a four-year battle with cancer.

He was born on June 6, 1955, in Pratt, Kan., raised in Wichita and graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with honors and a degree in Computer Science.

Mark was a system software engineer and worked in this field for more than 20 years. His last 15 years were with Electronic Data Systems, obtained by Hewlett-Packard, which included projects for the Department of Defense. He met and married his wife, Theresa, during his four-year tour in the U.S. Navy and then supported and toured with her during her active duty career. They relocated to Hutchinson in 2004, where he telecommuted from his home.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Theresa Christmann; three children, Marshall Christmann III and his wife Elizabeth, and their three children, beloved grandsons, Andrew, Tyler, and Marshall IV, all of Lyons, Mark Christmann Jr., and Mary Christmann, both of Hutchinson. He is also survived by his mother, Crysta Chandler; and step-father, Art Chandler of Lyons; father, Marlen Christmann of Pratt; and sister, Melissa Williams and her husband, Al of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marshall Christmann II, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Cremation will take place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
