Mark J. Mooney, 47, died Jan. 16, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 1, 1964, in Hutchinson, Kan., the son of Michael J. Mooney Jr. and Patricia A. Barry Mooney.
Mark was a longtime Hutchinson resident. He was a 1983 graduate of O'Dea Prep School in Seattle, Wash., and a 1987 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with degrees in business and finance. Mark was a member of the Notre Dame Alumni Association, Boy Scout Troop #303, where he earned his Eagle Scout Award, Order of the Arrow, two Palms and the Ad Altare Dei emblem.
Survivors include: daughters, Shannon Mooney of Las Vegas and Ashley Matus and husband Mike of Boise, Idaho; his parents of Hutchinson; brother, Mike Mooney III of Phoenix; sisters, Maureen Denison of Hutchinson and Kathleen Ansley and husband Darel of Wenatchee, Wash.
Rosary 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Church of the Holy Cross, with Father Joseph Eckberg officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
