Martha M. "Mardi" Traffas, 96, died Feb. 13, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born May 19, 1910, in Chicago, the daughter of George and Martha Virbukas Zaromskis. A Hutchinson resident since 1974, moving from Sharon, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Church of the Holy Cross, Altar Society and St. Veronicas Circle of Holy Cross, The National Organization of the 1910ers, and the Stitch and Chatter Quilt Club.
On Jan. 22, 1942, she married William A. Traffas in Chicago. He died May 27, 1991.
Survivors include: two daughters, Geraldine Gardner, Hutchinson, and Theresa Oldham, Leavenworth; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Taranda, Natalie Kleidon, Victoria Beauregard and Antoinette Jerome.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Family will receive friends following the rosary Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
