Martha R. (West) Froetschner, 69, died March 27, 2016, at her home after being surrounded by her family celebrating Easter. She was born on Feb. 17, 1947, in Hardtner, to Dale L. and Rosie (Reid) Steele.

Martha married Jackson L. West in 1963, in Kiowa. Together they had two daughters, Jacqueline Smalling of Nickerson and Jovonna Funnell of Topeka. Also surviving are grandchildren, Krystal Walton, Jachob Strecker, Jensenn Strecker, Victoria Smalling, Benjamin Smalling, Mattalynn Funnell; and great-grandson, Wyatt Walton.

In 1991, Martha married John A. Froestchner of Offerle. Martha was a 40-year career registered nurse. Family was the most important part of life to Martha. She loved having the entire extended family home for holidays, birthdays, or for any reason, just to be together. Martha enjoyed cooking, music, sewing, and dancing.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016, at First Christian Church, 220 S. 7th St, Kiowa, with Dennis Hatlestad officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
