Marvin Castor, 94, died April 29, 2009, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born July 26, 1914, in Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Rafael and Alvina Ordaz Castor.
He was a longtime Hutchinson resident, moving from Mexico when he was eight years old, first to Texas, then to Larned, Kansas. He was employed with Barton Salt, now Cargill Salt, retiring after 40 years of service.
He belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, Holy Name Men's Society of the church and G.I. Forum. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a PFC in World War II in the 317th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division.
On Oct. 2, 1948, he married Isabel Raya in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Phillip Godina and wife Karen, Hutchinson, John Castor and wife Anita, Wichita, David Castor and wife Vanita, Hutchinson, Andy Castor, Randy Castor and Tim Castor and wife Margie, all of Hutchinson; daughters, Sarah Mendez and husband Arturo, Wichita; brother, Joe Castor, Chicago; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gume and Rudy Castor; and two sisters, Bessie Bribiesca and Luz Bribiesca.
Parish Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Father Brian Nelson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military graveside rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
