Mary Britt, 102, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Legend of Hutchinson.  She was born December 19, 1916, in rural Morris County, Kansas, to Leander and Birdie (Burton) Shaw.

Mary graduated from Parkerville High School in Morris County.  She was a homemaker and an active member of First Baptist Church, Hutchinson, where she helped with various activities, including Sunday school.

On June 2, 1938, she married Donald A. Britt in Council Grove, Kansas.  After sharing 60 years of a loving marriage, he died May 30, 1998.

Mary is survived by: son, D.C. Britt and wife Jacquelyn of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Shannon Coleman and husband Dan, Shelly Thome and husband Jim, all of Peoria, AZ; grandson, Kane Britt and wife Sarah of Wichita; great-grandsons, Merrick Britt of Wichita, and Joshua Britt and wife Lynda of Glendale, Arizona; great-granddaughters, Brittany Thome and Caitlyn Thome of Peoria, Arizona: and great-great-granddaughter, Haley Britt of Glendale, Arizona. In 1957, Mary and Don sponsored a Hungarian refugee, Frank Hidvegi, who came to live with them in Hutchinson and became a member of the family. Frank lives in Wichita.

In addition to her husband, Don, Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Kent Britt; brothers, George and Lawrence Shaw; and sisters, Blanche Longacre, Eva Kohler, and Charlotte Swain.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Jim Autrey officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with the family present Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
