Obituary

Mary Buckman, 91, passed away December 24, 2020, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler.  She was born July 4, 1929, in Scott City, to George Edward and Ida Ethel (Baker) Logan.

Mary was the valedictorian of the 1947 graduating class of St. John High School, St. John.  She, along with her husband, Randall, owned and operated R & M Paint & Upholstery, Geneseo, for 20 years.  In 1975, Mary and her husband went to work at Collins Industries, South Hutchinson, where she headed up the Upholstery Department for 20 years.

She met Randall Buckman in 1951.  Following a long distance courtship by mail, they married February 8, 1953, just days after he was discharged from the United States Army.  They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to his death on June 15, 2013.

Mary is survived by:  her daughters, Charlotte (Gerry) Poepperling of Buhler, and Cheryl (Glenn) Field of Hutchinson; 9 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by :  her parents; husband; and one sister.

Cremation has taken place.  Public memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Lyle Hinsdale officiating.  Friends may sign the book from  9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, December, 28, 2020, through Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Eastwood Church of Christ for the benefit of Silver Maple Camp Scholarships, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
