WICHITA - Mary Emily Drew, 85, died Dec. 21, 2006, at the Catholic Care Center, Wichita.
She was born April 26, 1921, in Arlington, the daughter of Orin Francis and Katherine Elizabeth Davis Clapp. She graduated in 1939 from Larned High School, attended College of Emporia, and graduated in 1942 from Newman Hospital School of Nursing, Emporia. A Hutchinson resident since 1948, moving to Wichita in 1997, she was a registered nurse and homemaker.
She belonged to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Friends of the Hutchinson Library, Hutchinson Art Association, Community Concert Association, the Women's Civic Center, and she was a Hutchinson Symphony supporter.
On Aug. 12, 1942, she married Winston Sidney Drew in Larned. He died June 10, 1994.
Survivors include: a son, David J., Wichita; two daughters, Jeanne M. Sarkis, Prairie Village, and Annette E. Wilcox, Marion; a sister, Frances Stout, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jeffrey Crane presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the Hutchinson Public Library, in care of the mortuary.
