Obituary

Mary E. Hall passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Hester Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, at the young age of 97. She was born Aug. 26, 1917, at Ulysses, Neb., the daughter of Francis Albert and Clara Helen (White) Pollock.

She graduated from Ulysses High School, Ulysses, Neb. and Manhattan, Kansas Christian College in 1941.

On Feb. 24, 1938, she married Donald Duane "D.D" Hall in Seward, Neb. He passed away in 2007.

Mary was a resident of Hutchinson since 2005. Formerly a longtime Sterling resident, Mary and her husband owned and operated Hall's Clock Shop for over 55 years, and Mr. Hall preached at Chase Christian Church until he retired at the age the 89. Mary was a survivor and a strong-willed person. She and her daughter, Carol, survived a terrible accident on April 5, 2009, when a lady's car came through the window of a store in Hutchinson and ran them down. She was life-watched to Wichita, where she underwent six major surgeries in seven weeks and another at a later date to save her life and left leg. Mary was never able to go back to her apartment and live alone again. Thanks to a great therapy department at Good Samaritan Center, she learned to walk again with a walker, one baby-step at a time. She and Carol were two lucky women. Mary was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.

Survivors include: their children and spouses, Carol Sallee and Larry of Hutchinson, Stan Hall and Gail of Colleyville, Texas, Shirley Jordan and Bruce of Florence, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Chris and Christine Sallee, Brad and Paula Sallee, John and Angie Hall, Kristin and Phil Robertson, Rick and Kerri Koeppen; two sisters, Jean Sanley of Omaha, Neb., Helen Dunker of Seward, Neb.; brother, Bob Pollock of Lincoln, Neb.; 15 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, George, Bill, John, Marvin; and a sister, Frances.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimie-Wray Mead presiding. Burial will be 3 p.m. at Hilltop Cemetery, Raymond. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Eastwood Church of Christ-Children's Camp Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
