NICKERSON – Mary Malvina Hodge, 78, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Feb. 11, 1936, at Red Cloud, Neb., the daughter of Clyde and Ruby Carter Pitney.
She had been a janitor for USD #309-Nickerson for 20 years, retiring in Jan. of 2013.
She was married to George Franklin Hodge at Carson City, Nev. He died Dec. 26, 1992.
She is survived by their children, Sharon Colle (Otis Friesen) of Inman, Doreen Morse (Steven) of Wichita, Phil (Sherry) of Orangevale, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Garrison Moody; a brother, Gilson Pitney; a sister, Marie Riddle; and a grandson, Matthew Moody.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend Jim Rhaesa officiating. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
