Mary Jane "Jane" Rife,85, died June 25, 2007, at Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson.

She was born July 7, 1921, in Turon, the daughter of Ernest Glen and Mary Etta Sprout Walker. She attended Turon Schools. She was a longtime resident of Burrton, moving to Hutchinson in 1977, briefly residing in Liberal from 2000 to 2004, before returning to Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and a former bookkeeper for J.I. Case Implements.

She belonged to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Liberal, Order of Eastern Star, Kansas "Cowbelles", Kansas Livestock Association Auxliary, and H.U.G.S. after school program, Liberal.

On Nov. 27, 1937, she married Robert Gordon Rife in Pratt. He died July 19, 1981.

Survivors include: a son, Craig, Hutchinson; three daughters, Kathy Pratt, The Woodlands, Texas, Becky Kisel, Houston, Texas, and Carol Garner, Lenexa; 14 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Lloyd.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Tim Soule presiding. visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
