Obituary

Mary Ann Lange, 76, of Hutchinson, died Oct. 15, 2015, at Pine Village, Moundridge. She was born April 23, 1939, in Palmer, Kan., the eleventh of thirteen children born to the late Ed and Hulda Rahe.

She married Eldred G. Lange on Aug. 4, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn, Kan. He died Sept. 4, 1986.

Mary attended Linn Lutheran School and graduated from Linn Rural High School in 1957. She attended Concordia Teachers College, now Concordia University, in Seward, Neb., and graduated from Sterling College in 1978. Mary was a long time 5th grade teacher for USD 405 in Lyons and retired in 1998. Mary's faith and love for the Lord shaped her life. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school when her children were young and when they were grown, became active in LWML, serving both the Hutchinson zone and the Kansas district. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

Mary is survived by: her daughter, Beth Lange of Topeka; son and daughter-in-law, Bret and Dayna Lange; beloved grandchildren, Peri and Parker Lange, all of Moundridge; sisters, Nola McAfee of Elgin, Ill., and Marilyn Wiese of Linn, Kan.; brothers, Raymond Rahe of Abilene, Wilmer (Cora Lee) Rahe of Hiawatha, Edwin (Loretta) Rahe of Topeka; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Rahe of Hiawatha and Patty Rahe of Hanover. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Eldred; sisters, Elva Rahe, Alice (Alfred) Spreer; brothers, Norman Rahe, Lester (Arlene and Virginia) Rahe, Lavern (Ella) Rahe, Leonard Rahe, Richard Rahe; brothers-in-law, Bill McAfee, Leroy Wiese, and sister-in-law, Carol Rahe.

Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, and funeral service following at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer, Kan., with Reverend Chad Trunkhill officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, with family to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Linn Lutheran School Association, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or LWML, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
