Mary Sanchez-Ojeda, 84, died Oct. 23, 2007, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born July 22, 1923, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Anastacio and Andrea Cruz Martinez. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, she retired as a cook for Hutchinson Hospital.
She belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Ladies Altar Society, and the My Friends Club, all in South Hutchinson.
On Feb. 18, 1939, she was married to Catarino Sanchez, in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 25, 1947. On March 12, 1951, she married Paul Torivio Ojeda in Newton. He died July 26, 1990.
Survivors include: two sons, Joe M. Sanchez, Hutchinson, and Rey Sanchez, Sr., Wichita; two daughters, Reina Mendoza, and Geraldine Delgado, both Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons: an infant, Paul Sanchez, Jimmie Sanchez, and Paul Ojeda Jr.; two brothers, Morris and Concho; two sisters, Nellie Hartley and Lucille Juarez.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday,October 26th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 27th at the church, with Father Ned J. Blick presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the church or Trinity Catholic High School, both in care of the mortuary.
