Mary I. Southards, 69, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born March 5, 1942, in Florence, the daughter of Dalphas and Opal Call Ford. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School, a member of Loyal Order of Moose #982, attended First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, and was retired from the food service department at Wesley Towers.
She was married to John Thomas Southards. She is survived by: two daughters, Michelle Snell, Hutchinson, Debra and husband Frank Coker, Ponca City, Okla.; two sisters, Louise and husband Alvin Lyon, Hutchinson, and Delphine Rae and husband Gary Chatham, Colony, Texas; seven grandchildren, Tyler and Katie Pinkston, K.C., Izayha and Ali Coker, and Jenni and Chris Snell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Southards and her stepfather, John Aberg.

Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bones Nay officiating. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House in care of the mortuary.
