Mary Ruth Sumner, 94, of Hutchinson, died December 10, 2021, at The Arbors at Waldron Place. She was born April 13, 1927, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Frank and Annie (Ketchum) Godfrey.

Mary was married to Ernest Sumner, who passed away on July 25, 1987.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed many hobbies, including painting. Mary belonged to the Eastern Star and Christian Matrons. She could often be found on her way to the casino or bingo with a Dr. Pepper in hand. Mary loved her grandchildren and made many memories with them, including teaching them to drive on the farm.

She is survived by: daughters, Nikki Banning (Ray), Cindy Blevins, both of Hutchinson; son, Brent Sumner (Ollie), Highlands Ranch, Colorado; grandchildren, Terry Murphey (Laura), Amiel Murphey (Amy), Mandi Sumner, Brandon Blevins, Brady Blevins (David Gray), Jake Duft (Holly), Darrin Banning (Kari), Josh Duft; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Ernie Sumner; 10 brothers; a sister; and son-in-law, Curt Blevins.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family burial in Fowler Cemetery at a later date.
