Mary Virginia (Walker Norton) Whitford, 78, died May 31, 2015, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born April 13, 1937, in Pratt, to John A. and E. Elvira (Gaddis) Walker.
Virginia graduated from Sun City High School, Sun City in 1955, and attended Business College in Wichita. She worked as a bank teller, secretary, on the 1960's U.S. Draft Board, and Kansas Wild Life and Parks. She was also co-owner of Walker Ranch in Barber and Kiowa Counties with her siblings. She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.
She married Darald W. Norton Oct. 12, 1962, in Pratt. He died Aug. 6, 1990. She then married Arlen D. Whitford in 1992, in Canyon, Texas. He survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Melynda (Norton) Hudson and husband Robert of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Allen Walker and wife Theresa of Garden City; and sister, Wanda Anderson and husband Leo of Lakewood, Colo. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimie-Wray Mead officiating. Burial will take place later that day in Soldier Creek Cemetery, in Belvidere. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
