Mary Lea Wright, 92, died July 3, 2012, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Hutchinson, the daughter of George Alan and Cora Marie (Burtnett) Hunsley.
Mary graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1938. She was an accomplished artist, working primarily in oil and watercolors, with paintings featured around the world. Mary was a member of the National League of American Pen Women and Collage 20, and was also a member of Arati Artists Gallery of Colorado Springs. Mary was a member of First Christian Church in Hutchinson and then Colorado Springs.
On March 8, 1939, she married Bert B. Wright Jr. in Hutchinson. He died May 3, 2001.
Survivors include: a daughter, Coralee Allen and husband Ed and a son, Bert B. Wright III and wife Cindy, all of Hutchinson; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four siblings, P. Howard Hunsley, Millard Hunsley, Mae Robinson and Lela Baird.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Maynard Brazeal presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
