SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Mattie Bontrager, 100, died Nov. 16, 2006, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.
She was born April 22, 1906, in Haven, the daughter of Harvey J. and Lizzie Yoder Miller. A lifetime Reno County resident, she was a homemaker, cook for Yoder Grade School and co-owner of Jerry's Cafe.
She belonged to South Hutchinson Mennonite Church.
On Sept. 22, 1925, she married Jerry R. Bontrager in Yoder. He died May 12,1990.
Survivors include: her children and their spouses, Kenneth and Amy Bontrager, Sun City, Ariz., James and Darlene Bontrager, Bloomington, Minn., Anna Mae and Randy Jaynes, Colorado Springs, Colo., Carol and Gene Schrock, Partridge, and Laverta and Craig Moody, Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Enos Miller, Iowa; three sisters, Anna Mae Hartzler, Kalona, Iowa, Bertha Wenger, Simpsonville, S.C., and Nora Dickle, Fry Town, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 41 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a brother, Daniel Miller; and two sisters, Fannie Doolin and Elsie Miller.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Yoder Mennonite Church, with Pastor Howard Wagler presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Yoder Mennonite Church Cemetery.
